This month for our theme, we were to choose either Freelensing or Lensbaby. Both are difficult for stills, add in filming and it can get tricky. It’s a lot to think about while shooting. But I love freelensing and the added texture and dream like state it adds to the frame. I’m enjoying that I do freelens most of my films. A couple weeks ago we took the boys on their first Amtrak ride from BWI (Baltimore) to Washington D.C. It was a really short ride, about 40 minutes, but it was a great way to let them experience what it’s like.
I freelensed (even me holding my sons hand) while watching one of my boys experience his first ride as he sat next to me. I love the fact that I’ll look back in many years from now and be able to see the tinge of nervousness and then the relaxed and content feeling at the end as he looks out the window.
I always choose my song first and then I create my film. I was excited when I looked up the meaning of the title of this song by Kai Engle, it’s called Denouement (I did not know the word!! LOL!) but it means the final part of a play, movie, or narrative in which the strands of the plot are drawn together and matters are explained or resolved. I just loved that definition. I felt that it sort of related to the film.
Next up in our blog circle is the beautiful Tasha Boin. Please go to her blog next to see what she’s up to this month!
